“Alright,” Zhou Siyuan said to Tong Sui beside him, “Sui, could you come over and help me with a few simple tasks?”
“No problem.”
Tong Sui walked over, and Zhou Siyuan took an apron from the wall, slipped it over his head, and tied the straps behind him. “This way, you won’t get your clothes dirty.”
Jiang Ciyue paused for a moment, then looked toward the kitchen.
While it was a normal task to help tie an apron, the two were standing quite close, and in a show like this, it certainly wouldn’t be just genuine assistance.
He closed his laptop and walked over.
After tying the straps, Zhou Siyuan tilted his head to look at Jiang Ciyue, “What’s wrong?”
Jiang Ciyue replied, “I think two people working together would be faster.”
Zhou Siyuan said, “Alright then, you two can start sorting and washing these vegetables.”
The kitchen in the small house was quite spacious, so the group separated. Tong Sui and Jiang Ciyue washed vegetables at the back, while Zhou Siyuan handled the more complicated meat preparations.
At this moment, Sang Cai and Qin Xiuxian heard the commotion and came down as well. Sang Cai pulled Tong Sui, “You two shouldn’t be working so hard; it was agreed that you’d handle buying the ingredients, and we’d assist.”
“Working together will definitely make it faster, and besides, I have nothing else to do.”
Tong Sui made room for Sang Cai.
Sang Cai hadn’t actually cooked much before, so she started doing some simple prep work with Tong Sui.
Tong Sui soaked the cleaned vegetables in clear water and after washing them several times, handed them to Zhou Siyuan.
“They’re very clean, thank you.” Zhou Siyuan took them and set them aside. “Are you tired? If you are, just sit and watch while I cook.”
“Then I’ll sit for a bit.”
Tong Sui sat down to watch.
Qin Xiuxian was next to Zhou Siyuan preparing the ingredients. His knife skills were decent, but with Zhou Siyuan beside him, he appeared a bit clumsy.
Zhou Siyuan handled the knife with calm precision, quickly slicing the vegetables into evenly thin strips.
He was much more skilled than his modesty suggested.
At that moment, Zhong Yi came back holding his pet.
“What’s in that large box?” Sang Cai leaned over, “Help, it’s still alive. I have no idea how to deal with this.”
Qin Xiuxian said, “I’ve never done this either.”
Zhong Yi gritted his teeth, “I’ll handle it myself.”
He took the bag out, drained the water, and with a scowl, lifted it a bit using a few fingers.
The king crab, bound by its pincers, moved on the counter, leaving wet trails, and then unexpectedly fell to the ground.
Zhong Yi could only lift it again and toss it into the sink, rinsing it with water.
The king crab was put back on the counter, staring back at Zhong Yi, who was holding a chef’s knife. After a few seconds, Zhong Yi said, “Forget it, that’s too cruel; I’ll release it.”
The comments exploded:
——????
——Release it? Where? I’ll fly over to catch it.
Zhou Siyuan, with an almost heavenly voice, said, “Just leave it there for now; I’ll take care of it later.”
Zhong Yi paused for a moment but didn’t approach after all, since it was something he had brought back himself. “Just tell me how to deal with it, and I’ll do it myself.”
“Alright then.” Zhou Siyuan handed him a brush. “First, brush its surface clean.”
Zhong Yi took the brush, frowning as he clumsily cleaned, “If I had known it would be this troublesome, I wouldn’t have bought it.”
He had never served anyone before, and his first time ended up being with this massive crab.
In stark contrast to their clumsiness, Zhou Siyuan moved with expertise. Each dish not only smelled incredible but looked exquisite as well.
“You’re really impressive,” Tong Sui remarked, “You must be really busy with work; how do you find the time to learn so many recipes?”
“Takeout isn’t healthy, so I have to learn to take care of myself.”
Zhou Siyuan slightly lowered his lashes; due to the steam from cooking, he took off his glasses, revealing his soft features even more, with beads of perspiration forming at his forehead.
“It’s a bit hot in here. You should go out and watch some TV while you wait; it’ll be ready soon.”
Once the others finished their prep steps, they went upstairs or settled in the living room to chat and watch TV, leaving Zhou Siyuan busy in the kitchen.
Tong Sui grabbed a couple of paper towels from the counter. “Let me help wipe your sweat.”
“Thanks, sorry for the trouble.”
Zhou Siyuan turned his head slightly, bending down a little.
Tong Sui used the paper towels to wipe the beads of sweat from his forehead and carefully wiped the moisture from his nose bridge and tip.
Only then did Tong Sui notice a tiny mole on the side of Zhou Siyuan’s nose. He wiped it lightly, and it turned slightly red.
“What’s wrong?”
Zhou Siyuan raised his eyes to glance at him lightly; his eyes, beneath his lashes, quietly regarded him.
Tong Sui quickly withdrew his hand and tossed the paper towel into the trash, “Oh, I thought that was dirt, so I wiped it.”
The small mole was usually hidden beneath the restrained silver-rimmed glasses, only visible when they were taken off and you looked closely—like an unprepared surprise.
Tong Sui said, “Let me help you carry the dishes out.”
“Hmm, be careful; it’s hot. There are gloves over there.”
Tong Sui busied himself several times, bringing all the dishes to the table, naturally noticing that Zhong Yi’s little companion had now transformed into different dishes served at the table.
At this point, Zhou Siyuan had also finished the last dish and brought it over, a steamed egg made with crab roe.
The camera crew approached, capturing a close-up of the entire table of dishes.
This was almost the highest quality meal seen in three seasons; just looking at the presentation was mouthwatering.
The viewers behind the camera couldn’t hold back anymore:
——This time, I can’t believe it—saliva is truly flowing from the corners of my mouth.
——Doctor Zhou is truly an ideal human, who wouldn’t love someone kind, patient, stable in their job, and capable of cooking?
